FINE Meeting – February 16th – “Roundtable on New Ideas for 2012”

The February meeting of FINE Business Networking will be an opportunity for everyone to participate and to benefit from hearing about what others are doing to grow their business in 2012. We will go around the room and those who want to share an idea and get feedback from the group will have the opportunity to do so. Bette Lynn and I will moderate the roundtable and would like to know in advance if there is something you would like to share. It will help us prepare and make sure the roundtable is effective. 

We will also spend some time talking about the future of FINE. The Playhouse has raised the room rental fee so we are looking for a new location and considering changing the time and day. We would be interested in your thoughts. Note that we will be meeting in the Smilow Lounge, on the second floor of the playhouse.

Joe Terbell, an experienced professional college counselor will be our coffee sponsor. He will introduce his new business College Steps.

Our guest speaker is Michael Ross, Managing Director of the Westport Country Playhouse

Michael Ross, Managing Director, Westport Country Playhouse He will give us some insight into the behind-the-scenes operations of the Playhouse and talk about how they keep in touch with and nurture the relationship with their clients. They have been so creative and successful with the things they have done recently to promote the Playhouse within the community. This will be an opportunity for all of us to get some good ideas to apply to our businesses.

There will also be refreshments and plenty of great networking. Don’t miss this one!

Note: We will be meeting in the Lucille Lortel White Barn Center at the Playhouse at 9AM.

FINE is on vacation in August

We’ve decided to take off in August and concentrate on enjoying the summer! There will be no meeting. 

However, be sure to mark your calendars for September 16th, the FINE 17th Anniversary meeting, when our featured speaker will be Michael Ross, Managing Director of the Westport Country Playhouse.

Our speaker will be Michael Ross, Managing Director of the Westport Country Playhouse, who will give us a behind the scenes look at the business aspects of bringing the wonderful performances to the stage.

We are looking for a home in October. We need a meeting space on 10/21. I meant to mention it at the meeting and forgot. If you have something to offer or know of a place, please let me know.

Great Ideas from Rosann Levy, The Roart Group

I think it’s fair to say we all learned something from Rosann’s talk that we can bring back to our businesses and put into action. Rosann sent me a copy of her presentation which I converted from PPT to a PDF, however there were a few things that didn’t translate, but I think there’s enough that did to make it worthwhile to look at.

Next month’s topic for FINE is “Business Continuity Planning”, preparing for what to do when your business is interrupted in some way; storm, power outage, computer crash, disaster, etc. I’m sure there are some people in Bridgeport right now, wishing they had a plan. The storm, tornado or whatever it was ripped through this afternoon and a state of emergency was declared. And here in Westport, a few miles away, all is well.

Elizabeth Brown got us thinking about money

Elizabeth Brown, Empowerment Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, and Workshop Facilitator helped us look at some of the unconscious beliefs that drive our decisions about making with money.

We had about 35 attendess which is what we have been averaging for the past few months.
