What a Celebration It Was! FINE 17.

10 10 2010

Great turnout. Saw some old friends. Sam Wexler, one of the original members when FINE was formed back in 1993, told us how it all came about and what it was like back then. There were about a dozen of them, all former IBM’ers. In fact, FINE stands for Former IBM’ers Networking for Entrepreneurship.

Sam told us that FINE started meeting in someone’s house, until as the group grew, the police were called when there were too many cars parked on the street.  Over the years, things have certainly evolved. We had the former IBM’ers in the room at the meeting raise their hands, there were 5.  Another big difference, the original group was all male, now I’d say we are close to 50/50.

We tried something new, setting up tables for members to show their wares. Thanks to all who participated, hope you got some business. It looks like we will do it again next year.

The refreshments were yummy. thanks to Bette Lynn for her delicious 17th Anniversary carrot cake!

The highlight of the meeting was our speaker, Michael Ross, Managing Director of the Westport Country Playhouse. He is an enthusiastic speaker, telling us about the part of the playhouse we don’t see and sharing some interesting and humorous stories. Thank you Michael!

Here are some pictures.
