It’s been on my list of things to do and today I finally had the time. So, here are the photos from the June FINE meeting, the most highly attended meeting we have ever had. Nice going Jan!

Lively Discussion at the July 16th FINE Meeting

21 07 2009

We had a great turnout for our first summer meeting. The topic was “What do you think the second half will bring for you and your business” and the format was a roundtable. We circled the chairs in the Smilow Lounge at the Westport Country Playhouse. I led the discussion with help from Bette Lynn and John. Overall, there were some good points made, valuable info shared and a general sense of optimism.

We did an update on LinkedIn to see who had improved their profiles since the last meeting. We were fortunate to have  Jan Wallen, the author of “Mastering LinkedIn in 7 Days or Less” and our speaker at the previous meeting, as an attendee. She was able to offer us some additional guidance on what to do.  The LinkedIn discussion led to Twitter and could have continued for the entire meeting. Incredible how much interest there is in social networking topics.

Our next meeting is August 20th at the Playhouse and we will have a guest speaker,  Sheryl Kayne, who is a writer, adventurer, performer, educator, and public speaker. She is the author of Volunteer Vacations Across America and the critically acclaimed Immersion Travel USA: The Best and Most Meaningful Volunteering, Living, and Learning Excursions.

According to her press kit, Sheryl is the original immersion traveler and a specialist in volunteer vacations. If you are not sure what it is, immersion travel is about taking an active part in where you visit in order to learn about the culture, traditions, and characteristics of each particular place.

This should be a good one!  Hope to see you there.

Ed.

7/16 Meeting Topic – “What do you think the second half is going to bring for you and your business?”

1 07 2009

I am happy to announce the topic of our next meeting, July 16th, 9AM, at the Westport Country Playhouse (not the Library). Everyone will have the opportunity to participate and share with others how they would answer the question of “What do you think the second half is going to bring for you and your business?”.

The format will be a roundtable similar to our April meeting about the economy, which was very well received. Bette Lynn Paez, John Mocker and/or I will moderate and help keep the discussion going.

This will be the first time in the recent past that FINE has met during the summer. We all felt it was important in these times to provide a forum for everyone to keep in touch.

As usual, there will be time to network before and after the meeting and we will go around the room so everyone has a chance to briefly introduce themselves by giving their “30 second” elevator pitch.

We will also spend a few minutes on a “LinkedIn Followup” to see how those who were at the last meeting, when Jan Wallen spoke, are doing on using LinkedIn.

Hope to see you there.

Ed.
